Recently MCC completed a super insulated solar heated house, which is comfortably nestled on the shore of a wildlife pond. This energy efficient home is cozy 1600 square feet of living space with two bedrooms and radiant heat tubing installed into a special concrete slab. Water is circulated through the flat plate solar collectors, where it is heated by the sun, then into a storage tank and circulated through the tubing. The finished floors are bamboo and all interior painting has been done using non-VOC material. The house is also equipped with an energy recovery ventilation system that provides healthy air-to-air exchange throughout the living space. The house site is complemented with natural stone and bark mulch, intended specifically for maintenance free landscaping.
Over the next few years we will assemble data that will provide analysis of the energy use for this house.
