Randy Boyer, Project Manager and John Davee, President of Maine Coast Construction attended a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new Central Maine Cold Storage facility Thursday October 9th in Bucksport Maine. CMCS CEO: Brian McCarthy was interviewed by Adrienne DiPiazza of Channel 5 NEWS about the facility. CMCS is a 150’ wide by 100’ long Super Insulated Varco Pruden pre-engineered steel building that houses a state of the art IQF (Individually Quick Freeze) plant that will freeze and individually package seafood to be shipped around the US and world. Currently 60-70% of all seafood harvested in our area is processed in Canadian facilities. These new jobs are welcome to the Bucksport area after receiving notice that the Verso paper mill will be shutting down. Governor Lepage who was in attendance at the ceremony said he was negotiating with a potential buyer for the Verso plant to possibly switch the operation to a tissue manufacturer from magazine paper where demand has dropped.
